The trees planted alongside Beddington Heights homes in the late 1970s are now more than four decades old, and many are well past their prime. A mature spruce is no longer the compact specimen it was at year ten, and an older ash with untreated structural issues can develop real risk over time.
Removals in Beddington Heights often involve large specimens such as sixty-foot Colorado spruce or hollowed cottonwoods. These projects require careful planning rather than a simple climb and rope approach. Our crews plan each takedown with full rigging, drop-zone management, and crane support when the situation calls for it.
On mature trees, pruning is primarily a structural exercise. We focus on upper-canopy deadwood, weak codominant leaders, and limbs overhanging rooflines. For trees that still have healthy years ahead, we install cabling and bracing.
One of the most common issues we see in Beddington Heights is oversized species planted on modest lots in the original build-out. We help homeowners avoid repeating that mistake by recommending right-sized shade trees and hardy ornamentals suited to the lot, the soil, and a forty-year outlook.
The stumps left behind by mature removals carry substantial root crowns. We grind well below grade, trace structural roots where replanting is planned, and leave the site prepared for new sod, a new tree, or hardscape installation.
Every arborist service begins with a detailed written estimate — no verbal pricing and no unexpected changes later. We clearly outline the recommended tree care work, explain why it’s necessary, and provide the full cost upfront before any service is scheduled.
We use commercial-grade equipment and proven techniques on every job. That means cleaner cuts, safer removals, and less stress on your trees — and your property — from start to finish.
Not every older tree needs to come down, and not every rough-looking one is worth saving. Our recommendations are straightforward, even when the best answer is to leave a tree in place for another five years with minor maintenance.
Property-Wide Risk Review:A certified arborist walks your entire property, photographs each concern, and categorizes every tree as priority, secondary, or monitor.
Tiered Written Quote:Quotes separate the work into clear tiers: what needs to be done immediately, what should be scheduled within eighteen months, and what is optional.
Expert On-Site Work:Large removals are planned in detail before job day, including alley access, power-line clearance, driveway protection, and staging.
Full Cleanup and Final Review:Once the work is complete, we clear all debris, haul it away, and walk you through the finished results. We don’t leave until you’re fully satisfied with what we’ve delivered.
Book an on-site assessment if a tree on your property shows any of the following:
- Bracket fungi or conks on the trunk, root flare, or major limbs
- A hollow sound when the trunk is tapped near the base
- Clusters of deadwood in the upper third of the canopy
- Two codominant leaders meeting in a tight V-shaped crotch
- Girdling roots visible at the soil level
- Canopy thinning or undersized leaves after a dry season
- Limb failures during otherwise normal wind events

FROM TRIMMING TO REMOVAL — WE KEEP YOUR TREES SAFE, HEALTHY, AND BEAUTIFUL.
Tree removal costs in Airdrie depend on tree size, location, and site access. Small trees under 6 metres typically start around $250–$500. Medium trees (6–15 metres) range from $500–$1,200. Large trees over 15 metres or those near structures can cost $1,500 or more. Stump grinding is priced separately. We provide written estimates on every job before work begins.
The need for a permit varies based on the type, location, and scale of the hardscaping project. While smaller projects like garden paths or patios often don't require permits, larger-scale constructions such as retaining walls or outdoor kitchens might need approval. As part of our services at Adept Landscape and Construction, we'll help you understand the local council regulations and assist in acquiring any necessary permits as part of our commitment to ensuring smooth project execution. We uphold all local building codes and regulations to maintain safety and properly validate our work.
Late fall through early spring — during full dormancy — is the preferred window for structural pruning in Alberta. Pruning during dormancy reduces stress, limits pest and disease exposure, and promotes cleaner wound closure when growth resumes in spring. Deadwood removal and clearance pruning can be done year-round. Some species have specific timing requirements that our professional arborist team will factor into every recommendation.
Yes, we provide arborist services for homeowners, businesses, farms, and commercial properties.
Trees forty years and older should be inspected at least every two years, and annually if they have shown structural issues, fungal activity, or significant deadwood. Many of the original 1970s and 1980s plantings in Beddington Heights are at the age where small problems become large ones quickly without periodic professional review.
